POSITION SUMMARY:The Design-It team creates and maintains applications used by Guests in Menards stores and online at menards.com to design home improvement projects and purchase the materials necessary to complete those projects.In this position you will supervise and mentor Team Members in the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of Design-It systems. Coordinate and manage developer workloads related to development projects, enhancement efforts, defect fixes, and application support. Help develop and coordinate project management plans and manage the overall execution of these plans on time and within budget. Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems and devices. Prepare program specifications, diagrams and dataflow charts and submit recommendations for improvement. Coordinate system installation with user departments and operations, ensuring satisfactory results. Provide advanced-level software support for all related applications and Team Members.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Supervise, mentor, and train Team Members to ensure that job requirements are being completed* Delegate work assignments and coach Team Members to ensure systems are implemented according to specifications and standards* Help business sponsors develop business requirements* Provide managers and Project Managers with appropriate work breakdowns, accurate task estimates, and resource assignments* Maintain relationships with business sponsors, business analysts, IS department managers, IS directors, and upper-level management personnel* Pro-actively establish and/or maintain processes for resolving production and other system issues* Provide input to IS Standards if existing standards require modifications or changes; Mentor staff in proper use, continuous improvement, and ongoing implementation of IS Standards* Maintain an in-depth knowledge of business sponsor operations to facilitate communication regarding requirements* Analyze user enhancement and maintenance requests, determine priorities and possible solutions and assign resources to complete necessary changes* Actively participate in developing program specifications, writing/reviewing code, testing, and implementing systems* Work closely with Team Leads from other IS departments to build and maintain the necessary physical and application infrastructure* Ensure Team Members and Quality Assurance staff develop test plans and thoroughly test and debug all programs prior to implementation* Coordinate system installation with operations and any applicable departments* Help ensure support coverage across all kiosk systems* Provide advanced-level technical support to Menards' corporate staff for Menards' Information Systems* Meet with business sponsors to evaluate customer satisfaction* Ensure Service Level Agreements are met* Follow and reinforce the *Menards Values* in all Team MembersPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:* Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a Computer Science, Computer Programming or MIS related field OR Equivalent work experience* Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in IS* Excellent object-oriented analysis and design skills* Proficiency with Java case tools and / or programming* Knowledge of relational database design concepts and practices, and structured query language* Excellent oral and written communication skills * Excellent supervisory and performance management skills; interpersonal skills; customer service skills; organizational skills; project management skills and knowledge of project management tools* Excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution* Ability to successfully negotiate with vendors to provide service to the corporation* Ability to manage multiple priorities* Ability to work independently as well as cooperate with others* Must work within designated normal office hours assigned or required by work* May be required at times to work overtime and provide on call support, including weekends and holidays * Required to carry a company phone at all timesJava Developer, Excellent object-oriented analysis and design skills, Excellent supervisory and performance management skills; interpersonal skills; customer service skills; organizational skills
