The Information Systems Manager will actively manage and maintain a high degree of hands-on involvement in all aspects of the IT organization including application development, infrastructure, security, production, and support. The individual will develop and implement short and long range plans focused on maximizing the value that the IT organization provides to the organization, and will create, maintain and manage a budget to meet the agreed upon goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Technical and Management: Establish and maintain an adaptive technology infrastructure strategy that sets direction based on current business needs and technology trends Oversee and actively participate in the design, development, testing and maintenance of all architectural components and standards Instill operational excellence in testing, maintaining, monitoring and controlling business critical production systems with high availability Define and implement all appropriate IT policies and procedures establishing and maintaining a highly secure technical environment Evaluate and integrate new technology and manage all technology vendor relationships Provide project management oversight of all information systems related projects from start to finish; creating implementation strategies and execution plans, developing project specifications, documentation, and timelines. Prioritize project work and support activities Manage and develop IT personnel and the IT organization as a whole, providing strong vision and leadership Identify areas of process optimization and implement process improvement initiatives Application Support: Oversee application operations including technical support and system analysis Ensure application performance and security Act as primary organizational interface with vendors and provide internal point of contact and support Analyze products, recommend use of new products and services Infrastructure and Technology Support: Manage the maintenance, monitoring and scalability and all aspects of the local network infrastructure Manage email and phone systems Manage, monitor and enhance as required shared servers, data storage, backup/disaster recovery systems, VPN, website, etc. User Support: Oversee the planning, installation, control and maintenance of personal computers Oversee desktop software programs including managing licenses, installation, and upgrades Define requirements and statements of work for software development or enhancement projects. Ensure technical support is available for day to day operations Communication: Develop and communicate technology strategies, directions, goals and progress to management, users, IT staff and business partners Facilitate fulfillment of business needs through IT staff and collaboration with business partners Proactively identify opportunities to better meet business needs through technology initiatives Qualification Guidelines Business skills: Proven self-starter with the ability to work effectively with limited supervision Strong problem solving capabilities Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong understanding of accounting, operations, customer support and general business processes Able to quickly conceptualize strategic objectives and translate into operational direction Technical Skills Bachelor Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Associate Degree with commensurate IT experience. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in information technology Experience in industries where regulatory compliance and information security are critical Understanding of application design, development tools, version control tools and techniques A thorough understanding of database design and architecture Experience managing a system that crosses multiple functional areas within the organization Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft office products, IBM iseries or AS400 operations and RPG programming Experience with Taft-Hartley Trust Funds would be helpful, both Health and Pension Plans
