Database AdministratorJob Title: Database AdministratorJob Type: Full-TimeLocation: Mondovi, WIJob Description:Purpose:A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a successful database environment. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, maintaining a database system, establishing policies and procedures pertaining to the management, security, maintenance and use of the database, and troubleshooting issues on behalf of users.Duties and Responsibilities: Identifies database requirements; existing systems and designing proposed systems. Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, data replication, and recovery specifications. Recommends optimum access techniques and coordinating installation requirements. Manages upgrades and installs new systems. Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products. Reviews database objects and database productivity; Recommends application changes to increase database performance. Continues performance and tuning. Provides information by answering questions and responding to requests. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Maintains professional and technical knowledge. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related requests as needed. Meetings and consults with application developers. Researches, tests, installs, customizes, troubleshoots and supports products and technology for database monitoring. Promotes process improvements independently.Abilities/Skills Required: In-depth understanding of databases and database relationships (SAP Sybase ASE, Microsoft SQL Server) Advanced working knowledge of Unix and Linux Operating Systems General understanding of networking technology Excellent problem solving skills Strong communication skills Candidate should have knowledge of software development strategies.
