The Position: This is a full-time position within the Division of Technology Services at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. The UW System title for this position is Senior IS Specialist, with a working title of Service Center and IT Service Management Lead.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Position provides IT service management leadership, daily oversight and coordination of customer focused Division of Technology Services (DoTS) technical support. Our service management approach is a customer-focused approach to delivering IT services and providing a value to our campus users. The scope of this position encompasses all front-line support, processes and services for all customers affiliated with UW-River Falls. Position is also responsible for monitoring service management metrics for services being provided by DOTS.
Typical hours are 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday with additional availability necessary dependent on fluctuations in support demand throughout the academic year and support needs outside of standard hours.
Qualifications:
Position requires an understanding of service center call routing technology and capabilities; incident, service tracking, project management applications and other management information systems that may be used in a technical support operation; and a broad understanding of all facets of technology services and systems including basic networking principles, hardware, software, peripherals, enterprise software and business software and services. Candidates must have demonstrated interpersonal skills needed to address potentially difficult situations and customers; leadership skills needed to provide a constructive, team oriented, collaborative and supportive work environment; technical competence in a technical support environment and knowledge of information systems and daily technical operations including critical thinking and problem solving skills. In-depth understanding of ITIL and IT Service Management best practices and processes; ability to determine key success factors and create, analyze and apply reports and statistics to improve operations using appropriate quality improvement methods; excellent written and verbal communication skills with customers having a large variance in familiarity with technology or services provided; desire to work with customers on a daily basis and unequivocal dedication to excellent customer service; and advanced ability to effectively use web editing, email and calendaring software.
A four-year degree in MIS, Business Administration or an IT related field or equivalent of four years of commensurate work experience in an information technology department that utilizes the ITIL framework is strongly preferred. ITIL Foundations certification and experience strongly preferred. One or more of the following industry certifications are strongly preferred: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network +, Microsoft Certified Professional, HDI Support Center Manager, ITIL Foundations.
