Position Summary Responsible and accountable for accurately preparing material and labor take-offs, assisting purchasing with the solicitation of buy¬outs, providing logistical information for projects as it pertains to our scope of work and applying estimated labor hours to projects. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Interpreting bridge designs and details to determine scope of work Interpreting and understanding project specific specifications along with standard specifications Preparation of material take-offs Preparation of labor take-offs Creation of logistical information Assisting purchasing with the solicitation of buy-out items included in our scope of work Applying estimated labor hours to projects Completion of responsibilities in a timely matter to complete bids on time Providing information to Senior Estimator for project change orders Create project labor estimates as requested Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Have basic knowledge of general engineering principles and the methods of steel fabrication Knowledge, interpretation and visualization of construction designs Understanding of AWS welding symbols Experience with DOT and AREMA specs preferred Able to work in a team environment Strong communication skills Ability to multi-task in a fast work environment Ability to understand and comprehend plans and specifications for construction projects Ability to work independently Ability to visualize the assembly process of pieces and apply labor accordingly based on established rates Educational Requirements Associates Degree in Construction Management or equivalent combination of training and work experience Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as an estimator, detailer or similar role in the fabrication or construction industry or a related field
